Let’s start flying again: destinations for 2022
The steady vaccination roll-out, together with the arrival of the summer season means it’s time to start planning trips and holidays again.
For Catania airport, despite the persistence of the pandemic and the necessary containment measures, there are 13 new destinations starting in the summer months: 4 domestic and 9 international ones. These are: Alghero, Brindisi, Parma, Forlì, Mykonos, Dortmund, Ibiza, L’viv, Saint Petersburg, San Pietroburgo, AbuDhabi, Heraklion, Santorini and Tel Aviv.
There is also a tendency on the part of some international carriers to increase the frequencies of flights on routes already carried out in recent years: this is the case, for example, of Air France, which from June 2021 will fly to Paris every day and which, moreover, has also added Marseilles to its offer. KLM from May 2021 will be doubling the frequencies of flights to Amsterdam from May 2021.
The national sector is also particularly lively: there is a highly significant increase in companies that will operate on a fundamental route for business customers, such as Catania-Milano Linate. Volotea has already announced the rotations from Catania to the Milanese city airport, while news is also expected from other carriers.
Particularly important routes will also be reactivated for connections to the major international hubs, such as Dubai (the flydubai connection will start again on May 12) and Istanbul (Turkish will start to fly again from Catania as early as March 30).
